Spring has sprung, and so have new developments at DefectWise! We’re excited to bring you the latest updates, which are scheduled to roll out to production in the second week of September 2024.
Helpful Tip: If you’re using the web portal and don’t see the new changes, try clearing your cache or performing a hard refresh on your browser.
1. Defect Activity Log (Premium)
We’ve launched a powerful new tool for tracking defect activity—the Defect Activity Log. This new history feature provides a comprehensive audit trail of every action taken on a defect. You’ll now have access to crucial information, including who made changes and when they occurred.
Why is the Defect Activity Log important? The ability to track changes in real-time is essential for maintaining transparency and accountability across your team. Whether you’re managing a complex project or troubleshooting ongoing issues, having a clear record of defect activity helps ensure nothing falls through the cracks. It empowers you to understand the full lifecycle of a defect, spot recurring issues, and make informed decisions quickly.

You’ll be able to view a full rundown of the following events:
- Created: See who created the defect and when.
- Synced: Track when a defect was synced and by whom.
- Updated: Monitor all field changes and see who made them.
To view the defect history:
- On the app: Use the dropdown menu, which defaults to ‘Comments.’
- On the web portal: Use the chip buttons to toggle between Comments, History, or Show All.
2. Time Zone Selection
You can now select your preferred time zone from your Company options screen. This update impacts how dates are displayed in server-generated reports, ensuring that all dates reflect your local time.
- Due Date
- Completed Date
- Photo Metadata Date
Note: this only impacts server generated reports.
3. Bugs & Fixes
In addition to these exciting new features, we’ve addressed a few key issues:
- Photo metadata date now sets according to the selected time zone (no longer defaults to UTC).
- Resolved photo aspect ratio issues in DOCX exports.
- Minor text changes in the app to improve clarity on the purpose and usage of certain pages.
